From chaos to control: How Elegant dental clinic overcame inventory challenges with LM DTS™


Client

Elegant is a small to mid-size private dental clinic with six patient treatment rooms in the centre of Turku, Finland. It is strongly oriented towards dental surgery and CAD/CAM technology, ensuring high-quality and advanced dental care for its patients.

Challenge

Before implementing LM DTS™ Elegant had faced inventory management issues, particularly related to CAD/CAM blocks, implant fixtures, and bone grafts. These led to challenges such as:

  • Frequent shortages of critical materials: Dentists used items from the stock as needed without a system to monitor the remaining inventory.
  • Lack of a professional ordering system: Materials were ordered only when it was discovered that stock needed to run higher, leading to inefficiencies.
  • Impact on patient care and clinic efficiency: Inadequate inventory management led to delays, necessitating the rescheduling of patients due to a shortage of materials. This resulted in decreased patient satisfaction and economic losses for the clinic.

The clinic needed a robust solution to manage their inventory efficiently and ensure that essential materials were always available.

Solution

The clinic implemented the Dental Tracking System™ (DTS) to address these challenges. LM DTS has been designed to track assets, monitor usage, sterilization cycles, expiration dates, and inventory value. Alongside the solution installation, LM Dental personnel provided staff training to ensure smooth adaptation and effective use of the system..

1. LM DTS™ RFID tags

Disposable LM DTS™ RFID stickers were used to tag implants, CAD/Cam blocks, implant fixtures, and bone grafts.

2. LM DTS™ Table Reader

Two LM DTS tray readers were placed in the storage area to register withdrawal and return of materials.

3. LM DTS™ Software Server

LM DTS™ Software was installed to monitor and manage inventory in real time. Custom Item groups and subgroups were created based on the clinic’s specific needs, allowing for better organization and management of various item

Results

The implementation of the LM DTS™ system revolutionized the clinic’s operations, providing numerous benefits:
